The 1990 Midleton Very Rare has a rich aroma of toffee, vanilla, and subtle hints of leather and green grape. The taste is characterized by notes of Demerara sugar, butter, clove, and cinnamon, reminiscent of sticky toffee pudding. The finish is slow to fade, with a lingering barley spice.

• Aroma:

The initial aroma is dominated by heavy toffee, followed by vanilla and hints of new leather. There are also subtle floral notes and a suggestion of green grapes, along with a perfumed lift that indicates the grain whiskey component. A complex pot still character underlies these aromas. 

• Taste:

The palate is remarkably sweet, with notes of Demerara sugar and butter, along with hints of clove and cinnamon. These flavors evoke the taste of sticky toffee pudding. 

• Finish:

The sweetness from the palate lingers for a while, with the final impression being one of barley spice.
